We are excited to announce another sponsor that joins the dWebsite of the Week award, the 🦍punk and 👽punk projects.
These are pioneer projects in what we call “tokenized websites”. We are proud to feature them as sponsors.
Each winner of the award in the next 8 weeks (week #4 — week #11) will get 500 🦍punk and 500 👽punk tokens. The tokens will be sent in Polygon, so if you win, make sure to use your Polygon wallet.
This is an addition to the already existing sponsorship award from ENS: a 100$ to be paid in ETH.
If you didn’t have enough reasons to build amazing dWebsites you just got an extra one.
What are tokenized websites?
Tokenized websites are websites with a native token. The holders of the token get some utility on the website. It can, for example, be used for payments on the website, governing the website, or getting a percentage from a future sale of the website.
Tokenized websites are part of three tools that we see as the future of the decentralized web. We will talk about it in more detail in another article in a few days.
What are 🦍punk and 👽punk?
🦍punk.eth and 👽punk.eth are two tokenized websites create by CryptoGOATs (search for CryptoGOATs in our Discord channel!).
The project is based on a simple observation: ENS names are actually NFTs, and there are tools for tokenizing NFTs! Here CryptoGOATs used fractional.art platform to tokenize the ENS names 🦍punk.eth and 👽punk.eth.
🦍punk.eth and 👽punk.eth tokens live on Polygon and on Ethereum mainnet. The token holders are considered as DAO members and have voting right. At the moment, token holders can only vote if their tokens are on Ethereum, and the only question they can vote on is the buyout price of the DAO.
CryptoGOAT actually create several such tokenized websites, 🚀coin.eth, 👽punk.eth, 🦍punk.eth, 🦄coin.eth, 🍣coin.eth and 🥞coin.eth. All of them are managed in the same way, and all of them participate in a game called ‘DAO WARS’.
There is more information in 🦍punk.eth and 👽punk.eth websites.
Discussions
We opened a new #tokenized_websites channel in our dWeb Discord For discussions on 🦍punk.eth and 👽punk.eth specifically, or on tokenized websites in general.
There is a lot of power in the tokenized websites idea. We’ll write more about it soon.
